Risk assessments are required by law for every entrepreneur and activity. BBGS goes one step further. Not only do we check whether these risk assessments are available, but we also actively request them from every contractor on our construction sites before start of construction works. BBGS discusses the assessments with the subcontractors, and we develop together potential areas for improvement . As a result, we define measures for the construction site process.
A specific project safety plan ("Accident Prevention Plan") is drawn up for each project. The plan defines the measures and responsibilities so that everyone involved in the project knows their role with the associated responsibilities. Each BBGS employee has the right and obligation to stop work that poses a health hazard to our employees, as well as to those of the subcontractors’. We coordinate the work of the individual subcontractor so that no mutual hazards occur. In cases when companies or trade crews cannot work without interference, protective measures for mutual hazard prevention are defined.
BBGS site managers have completed comprehensive safety trainings that go beyond the legal requirements. This is the occupational health and safety training for SiGeKos ("Occupational health and safety knowledge in accordance with German RAB 30, Part B") or special training that introduces them to U.S. occupational health and safety regulations.
With these expanded skills, the safety managers check whether there are any violations of applicable occupational health and safety regulations on a daily basis. Additionally, they check whether occupational health and safety can be enhanced by changing work processes/procedures. Thanks to their knowledge, our employees on site are also competent points of contact for our customers if they have questions about occupational health and safety.
